We were led around the exhibition by a group of Year 9 pupils who told us the harrowing story of Anne Frank and her family, we saw images of Anne and her family before the Holocaust, and we also got to read excerpts of her diary. The year group celebrated in our achievement assembly and again, as Head of Year, I was extremely proud. During the assembly, 7 St Bede shared their thoughts on being different through prayer and reflection.
The boys narrowly missed out by just one place but competed exceptionally well against pupils older than them and came 17th. God has a special plan for each of us. He also drew a caricature of each pupil which was very entertaining and a lovely reminder of the afternoon for pupils to take with them.

homewlrk In Year 9 our Combined Science students have 4 science lessons per week, moving to 5 lessons per week in Years 10 and This was really shocking for the pupils and their fascination with what Maureen was telling them was palpable. Homework club was launched in Week 4 last half term and started as a little Tuesday lunchtime club but, due to popular demand, the club has now been extended to every Tuesday and Wednesday and is full every week!

All pupils and staff enjoyed themselves and our pupils made some new friends from our different schools. Pupils wrote their own bidding prayers, created resources and encouraged other pupils and staff to reflect on what we are grateful for. Some homeework are classic Christmas ones but others are more scientific. The pupils were asked to design the tree and then make it using equipment in the lab. The students valued this experience and this has helped them develop their knowledge regarding higher education. The Day was full of drama, first class music and inputs from great speakers.
A group of 6 Year 10 girls were also recognised for successfully applying to attend a nationally accredited weekend cause at Cleveland College of Art and Design. Excellent commitment and team effort all round, well done boys!

Year 7 Netball — 18th January Well done to our Year 7 netball team who had their first game of the season this week and for some it was also their first game ever! English Martyrs have the highest number of positive points in the year group and were also treated to some chocolate for their hard work.
Their excellent behaviour and attitude to learning was praised by one of the teachers who helped to organise the event. We are creating a full class anthology of the work we have created today and it is really something to be so proud of.
Year 9 were rewarded this morning for their achievement this term.

cambriidge I was very proud to have taken a wonderful year 10 GCSE group down to London for some project inspiration. Generosity whilst taking part in our journey through Cambridve which begins on Ash Wednesday, 14th February.
The boys played three games to secure a place in the semi final. The talented Kev F Sutherland ran the extremely exciting event, who has drawn for a variety of publications, including The Beano! They are looking forward to trying out her techniques in their own writing.
We celebrated the achievements of our wonderful Year 11 Students during assembly this morning. This half term the members of geography club took part in a Great British Geography bake off and I think I can say, on behalf of all members, that it was a great success.
Once the tree was complete pupils then decided to decorate the tree with coloured card. By the end of the workshop, they were able to decipher famous brand names in Russian and have short conversations. As part of the Early Help review a working group was established with the remit of developing a Help Point service for families and professionals to offer advice and guidance on universal services.
This was the best performance yet by both teams. Douglas said Anderson went close to selection at both centre and wing, where he played for the Southern Region side, but was pipped in both positions.
